This idea comes from me but I was inspired by Pascale’s lovely Montessori ideas.  This activity gives your child the chance to get up close and personal with nature in the way that best suits them.

Nature Tray

As this activity requires an assortment parts from nature you can collect them on a walk or from your garden or even small clippings from any house plants you may have.

You will need:

• a tray of some sort
• a variety of plant parts (seeds, leaves, flowers)
• a magnifying glass

Set the natural items in an inviting manner on the tray with the magnifying glass in a place that your child can easily access it without your support.  Allow them to approach the table in their own time and have a close up look at the items on the tray.

Once you have set up your nature tray you can leave it there but swap out items from time to time.
